Marcus has always had a love for people and finances. Marcus began his career in 1998 with PaineWebber while attending Sonoma State University studying International Business and German Studies. In 2000 he moved to PaineWebber’s Seattle branch to work on their corporate employee financial benefits team, servicing stock option and restricted stock plans for companies including Expedia, Intel, ICOS, Immunex, Amgen, and Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile). He stayed with the firm as it merged with the world’s largest private bank at the time, UBS.
Marcus has focused his career on providing exceptional financial planning and investment management experience to affluent and high net worth households. In early 2009, he left UBS to found Viridian Investment Management with his business partner, Adriel Tam. We are proud that Seattle Magazine named him a “Five Star Wealth Manager, Best in Client Satisfaction” in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Marcus was born and raised in the Height Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, but spent summers growing up in Europe because his mother is German and (he holds both U.S. and E.U. citizenship). Marcus enjoys spending his free time at home in Edmonds with his wife Erica, his two kids Josiah and Jasmine, and their dog Lily. When not working with clients, he can often be found underwater SCUBA diving as a Certified Rescue Diver, playing golf, or backpacking and camping in the great Northwest. Marcus and Erica are passionate supporters of the Washington State foster care program.
