We’re excited to officially be a part of Edelman Financial Engines

We are excited to announce that effective June 22nd, Viridian officially merged with Edelman Financial Engines (EFE).

We are excited about this merger in part because it allows us to do several things immediately:

  • Increase much needed support for our tax team – As you know, COVID, IRS changes, remote work, and many other factors have put a real strain on our tax team. One of the immediate benefits of joining EFE has been our ability to accelerate tax team staff increases; we have recently hired four new people, and that process continues. We know that we still have a way to go, but EFE’s added infrastructure, scale, and support are already very welcome. We will significantly improve this part of our service offering in the months ahead—in part to ensure that this year’s delays aren’t repeated in 2022.
  • Expanded capabilities – EFE provides financial planning and investment management to individuals and families, just as Viridian does. In addition, however, EFE serves the needs of business owners by providing extensive 401(k) solutions. Using advanced Financial Engines technology, EFE serves plans with assets of $500K to billions of dollars; Seattle-based Boeing happens to be their largest corporate 401(k) customer. Because of the size and scale required, this isn’t something that Viridian could provide/offer…until now.
  • No changes for you – Not only are our office location, phone number and the Viridian people serving you the same as before, but your investment accounts custodied at Schwab, TD Ameritrade or Fidelity stay right where they are (EFE has relationships with all three). Our long-term goal, of course, is to align Viridian’s way of doing things with EFE’s; meanwhile, it is business as usual.
  • New Tools and Technology – You might not be as excited as we are, but our world has really expanded in terms of the technology and tools to which we now have access. We are currently reviewing the many things EFE has to offer to decide which of them will eventually lead to a better service offering, optimal client experience and overall relationships.
